The Southampton Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit looks after patients from the age of 16 from a very wide area, including Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, Sussex, the Isle of Wight, Jersey and Hampshire.

Strict cross infection rules mean CF patients often spend long periods of time in hospital isolation, often far from their families. Fundraising helps provide patients with IT equipment, TVs, videos, fridges, DVD’s, laptops, exercise equipment and laptops (Laptops may sound like a luxury, but when a person with CF could spend anything from 3 weeks to 6 months+ in hospital isolation every year, the use of a laptop is really important so that they can keep up to date with work and college commitments). Money raised also finances important medical equipment for the unit if there is limited or no support available within the NHS budget.
